This is an ongoing and not even close to exhaustive list of resources for anti-racism work: content for education, activists and organizations to follow and support, and more. I invite you all to include additional resources in the comments. This post will be updated continuously.
Unsurprisingly, the cards this week reflect a need for presence, grounding, and facing our darkness. Take a moment, set your intention/inquiry, pick a card, and dive in....
The message from Spirit this week is simple: own your shadow, don’t let it own you. I was going to start this transmission to say that this week has been quite heavy. Every week lately you could say it’s been a heavy week. words cease to describe the way that the days can feel, many of them overwhelming with collective trauma and loss. There is no value judgement on the level of divinity. Good and bad are not moral absolutes, but choices. On a human level, we grapple with our shadows (what we call “bad”: our sadness, hatred, fears, hopelessness, judgements, etc.), or we die with them. Not to mention those we bring with us on these dark paths, those who end up hurt along the way, caught in the crosshairs of our negligence and fury. Not to mention the many lifetimes we end up carrying the same burden, facing the same challenges over and over again because our fears loomed larger than our courage. There are times that I want to declare that the great American experiment is a failure. I say the American experiment not just in the context of “founding fathers”, really some dudes with weird hair who wanted to get out of paying taxes (wait, what year are we talking about again?) and their legacy of horror that they have passed on to the rest of us. I’m also thinking about post- MLK Jr. America as well. How could America not be a failure, when there was never a level playing field? When the rules were always misleading, violent, obtuse, or disingenuous? America prides itself on letting its wounds fester as it denies their existence, even as the blood and waste spill on to all of us, drowning us in its sick.
But….what if this moment isn’t about America’s failure? Perhaps we are still in the delicate, fragile chrysalis woven by ancestors willing to lose their lives for the sake of their descendants emerging anew. Perhaps who we are now is the caterpillar eating itself, transforming itself to a soupy sac of cells and impulses. Maybe those ancestors knew that they wouldn’t live to see the butterfly emerge, but they knew this emergence was imminent, inevitable, already done. And that made their investment all the more worthwhile. For the sake of their descendants, the souls that would come after and awaken to see the sun in a new light, through a new container. Sometimes the future feels more tangible than the now. Sometimes it is more welcome to dream than it is to reflect on present impossibles. My work in this lifetime is to believe that the dream is now. To be one butterfly among many. To be overwhelmed with the beauty of our collective awakenings. To see the work of my ancestors through. I invite you all to join me in this hope, this action, this courage. Dare to make the dream of liberation reality. It already is. drink water. more than you think you need. then even more than that.
eat regular meals. invest in liberation, both spiritual (within) and political (without). consider what activism could look like for you as a witch in digital and physical space. investment manifest as dollars, time, and attention. put your money, your eyes, your actions where your mouth is. look at yourself in the mirror. soak in your features. look yourself in the eyes. let your sight linger on your features, especially the ones you have tried to erase, or change. lift them up - thank them for their character, shower them with love. learn the name of nearby tree or plant. walk on the earth with your bare feet. spend at least 5 minutes every day watching the sky, the birds, and the tree branches swaying in the wind. when an intrusive/depressive/anxious thought enter your consciousness, instead of trying to beat it into submission, be present with it. offer it space to speak. let it be heard. instead of pushing it away, respond to it with love and truth. practice this every day. practice speaking truth, especially when it is scary. practicing not swallowing your response to hate/myopia. muster your courage. consider your privilege and the power that has. invite someone to a new way of thinking. conversely, know when to walk away and protect your peace. in the moment, consider your ancestors - is your responsibility to your lineage to act or to rest? allow yourself to cry. light a candle for those we have lost. practice forgiveness. not for the sake of pleasing another, but for your own wholeness. don’t forget to include yourself in this ritual. remember that love is always with you. Happy to share this video of my collective reiki transmission from this morning. This session is about being present with grief, facing our shadows, and being available for healing. Please feel free to return to this video in times of mourning and uncertainty. If you watch, please let us know in the comments what comes up for you; I'm happy to help guide through your process. I am so grateful to be able to share this practice with you! Take great care of yourselves, loves.
In this longform personal essay, I talk about how finding YouTube reaction videos has helped me heal my angsty preteen within! I mean, that is a hilarious sentence as it is, but stick with me! I write about being a Tool fan and how connecting virtually with other Black fans of their music has been a clarifying and soothing way to send love to past lifetimes and allow my own weirdness to let itself shine and thrive. Even if you’re not a Tool fan, this essay helps shed some light on the interdimensionality of our experiences, and on how joyful moments in the present can heal our wounds from our past. Use this piece as a way to connect with your own sensory experiences and emotional sensitivities of your youth and let your inner child know that you are coming back home to care for them! Read on for this essay after the jump!
I wanted to share more about what I was getting from the Tower rx, beyond what I provided in a straightforward intuitive update, so I decided to make this second video as a follow up! this video is me channeling Divine's message about this card directly. what do I mean by that? well, it's hard to describe, but it's basically just me listening and being available to receive what they are saying and translating it more plainly than I typically do. sometimes I hear it with my ears, but more often it comes through as feelings and images, visual and somatic analogies and symbolism. and it can be nice to give those energies more of my attention instead of just working it all through my mind and intellectual self!
one thing I wanted to emphasize and clarify in this video - when I talk about resting so that you can be available for Divine downloads, it was more than just about cleansing. it felt deeper than that, more like a rearrangement or a reprioritizing that is coming from the inside, washing over our emotional and etheric bodies in particular. it's hard to put in words but what I saw were lines of lights in the style of like computer/software code with some being turned on and others being turned off. it felt like a deep internal processing that Divine is doing with us. so it requires this feeling of being shook to wring out the caked on bits that need to be cleared out, followed by moments of presence and reception, and then gentle support or rest so that the rearrangement/new encoding can come through. juicy stuff! let me know how you felt about this video and if you would like to see more of this kind of channeling from me! We’re connecting with the Tower reversed and White Opal this week! And this intuitive update is kind of a two parter! The first part, posted here, is the typical video update that I share where I am talking about the meaning of the cards and the messages that are coming through about it. In this video, I talk about tarot reversals, claiming this moment of change, settling into a cleansing liminal space, and making space for healing.
After I finished recording the first part, I felt the nudge to go a bit deeper and dive into the language I am getting from Spirit more plainly. So I made a follow up video! The second part is a bit more of a channeling, where I am more directly translating the images and feelings that are coming through. It’s less of an intellectual process and more of a somatic one. You can check it out here. Let us know what you think and if this resonated for you in the comments! The healing power of crystals, in oracle deck form! Take a moment, center yourself, and pick a card. When you're ready, read on!
This week we have a special edition of the intuitive update and I’m talking about Gemini! Though we are still in Taurus season, some recent Gemini transits have imparted a sense of urgency in sharing what we are moving through with this sign this year. The north node moved into Gemini last week and yesterday, Venus went retrograde in the sign, where it will stay until August! In this update, I talk about the lunar nodes, the Cancer/Capricorn and Gemini/Sagittarius polarities, lessons from Venus, and what the north node in Gemini might mean for the US presidential election this year. Juicy stuff! One note/correction - there’s a moment where I say that the lunar nodes’ orbits last for 1.5 years - this is clear in the context of the audio, but I meant to say transit not orbit! The orbits of the lunar nodes last over 18.5 years.
Please give it a listen and let me know what you think! If you are interested in learning more about Gemini and the lunar nodes in your natal chart, I invite you to book a reading with me. |
