There’s no secret knowledge that you need to possess in order to know Divine. All you need is you. Your presence, your courage, your willingness to face your shadows with a full heart and a generous spirit. Today is Samhain, Halloween, and the first day of Mercury retrograde in Scorpio. The invitation of these magical days is to say yes to your deepest truest transformation.
I have written a channeled incantation for the magic of today. It was written in the spirit of howling naked and bloody at the moon. Use it as a foundation for your own spell work or just let it inspire you to create your own ritual or actions in truth. Whatever you do, bring love and integrity to it. Bring your power. Bring your authenticity. This is for you. if your shadows roar, then let them rock the very foundations of all that needs to be shed. let your limitations crumble under the weight of their cries. leave no stone unturned. crawl on your belly so that you can rise triumphant from the ashes. transform transform transform. you are the spell. you have the gifts. you are the gift. let yourself be renewed. call in your highest and best guides. listen deeply and well. call in your golden light to heal from crown to toe. transform and emerge. spread your wings. feed your fire. feed your fire. feed your fire. dance naked with mystery. bare your truth unabashedly. pound your chest with holy cries. the time to unlock your deepest magic is now. there is only now. all from love all from love all from love. and so it is! light fires tonight. tend to your candles, your cauldrons, your fire pits. pray that the fire burns in holy glory. that it burns with love to guide it towards regeneration. with love to guide it towards divine passion. with love to guide it towards divine cleansing. honor the fire within you. fire does not come without purpose. you are the manifestation of a powerful and intentional divine spark. fear no ghosts. fear no demons. feed your light. feed your destiny. do not turn away from what is yours. A B R A C A D A B R A I create as I speak AND SO IT IS. Cards: 8 of Wands rx, Page of Wands, 3 of Swords Deck: The Fountain Tarot Healing and transformation cannot be rushed. What unleashes transformation is knowing yourself, the nooks and crannies of all that we are taught to repress. It is time to unlearn those traumas. Scorpio season is here to drag untruths out by the root, so that the harvest of evolution may proceed. It is time to dig deep, listen intently, and do the work of the soul. Heartache may come with this change, yes. It is only natural. The lonely echo of your tears bouncing off the walls of your heart. Let them flow. Let them breathe. This new moon in Scorpio is asking you to slow down to tend to your wounds in order to nurture your transformation. To allow yourself to feel without rushing towards a finish line. Your soul wants you to get intimate with Spirit and to let go - release your attachments to your hurts, release your need to be right, to have the moral high ground. In divinity, such a thing does not exist. Screenshots from Yumi Sakugawa's 10/26/19 Instagram story I came across this directive in Yumi Sakugawa’s Instagram story this weekend about practicing self-love intentionally and passionately every day. I think this practice is essential for everyone, but especially for Scorpios, and now everyone else as we move through this season. The emotional intensity of Scorpio can be taxing, and is often (mis)directed towards feeling misunderstood or unseen. The ruling planets of Scorpio, Pluto (awakening, large scale transformations, judgement, power) and Mars (power again, movement, passion, fury) show us how much attention, and conscious intention, this sign requires. Feeling is key here - feelings seen outward and turned inwards, for better or for worse. This processing can take significant energy. It can make you feel like retreating from the world. And retreating is okay, if it is met with equal love and nurturing. Because this is the time to develop deep intimacy with yourself. To plunge into those depths unabashedly. To not shame yourself for what makes you different. If you feel unseen, then the invitation is not to make a story out of why you are a victim, but to know and love yourself earnestly. There is no room for self-hatred here. Make no space for it. Do not entertain thoughts of defeat. Do not sheepishly make room for your insecurities because you are too afraid to disappoint yourself. Make your fears too uncomfortable to stay. Let them know they are unwelcome guests, and send them on their way, with truth and compassion.
Take all the time you need to practice this. A week, a decade, a millennia. Time is a human construct. We are operating from the soul here. Your ego is here to listen, to integrate, to learn a new way of being. Let her know what true love is. Do not fear its glory; choose to honor its wonder with all of the power that you can muster. Mantra for the new moon in Scorpio: I direct my desire to my evolution I direct my desire to the growth of my soul I call in my highest and best I attract all that is loving and true I am ruthless in the way I love myself I spare no room for self-limitation I spare no room for doubt I speak Love I express Love I am Love I'm back in Mississippi for a few days after an amazing weekend at the New Orleans Vanlife Gathering. I'll post more about that experience soon, but I wanted to upload a brief video talking about my latest visit to the Burrow! Hope you all are well - stay tuned for a bunch of content from me about Scorpio season as well, which begins tomorrow! The Star || Deck: The Fountain Tarot Full moons draw our attention to polarities. The push and pull between opposite but interconnected energies. A full moon in Aries highlights the polarity of “I” (Aries) and “us” (Libra), singular action and shared peace. Where is the line between our collective identity and our individuality? Where do I end and you begin? The tarot card that I pulled for this full moon is the Star. The Star invites us to consider the question: where does the responsibility lie when it comes to our healing? The answer is that healing is for all of us or it’s for none of us. Each of us has a role to play, and we must all take responsibility for the impact that we have on others, on nature, on the collective. Aries says if that means we have to burn down whole systems to bring peace, then that is what must be done. It’s not even a purge in the eyes of Aries - it is full throttled BEing (the words of Aries are “I am”). And if a few things gets burned along the way, then that just means it was time for a new beginning anyway. Though it gives us a good start, this sort of energy is ultimately not built to last. Libra can refine this process and helps us bridge the gap between our impulses and serving the greater good. Libra helps us articulate what the burning actually is - an honoring of balance, a way to serve justice and account for the needs of the many over what we as individuals want right now. In the tarot, the Star is a card that is the calm after the storm of the Tower. It is a moment of reception and integration of psychic downloads after massive change (either internal or external). The Star in the Fountain Tarot deck is one of the more active depictions of this card I have seen. You get the sense that when we pull this card, we are truly choosing our wellness and connection to divine. It is a reclamation of the self through healing. It reminds us that the we are the champions of our own worth and destinies. Healing is not a passive act, nor is it something that occurs only in one moment. It is an action that we have to choose over and over through the cultivation of awareness in alignment with our highest and best good. When we choose to heal ourselves, we heal generations, those that came before us and those who will come after us. As above, so below. Similarly, what we experience inwardly, is also what we bring out into the world. Do not allow whitewashed stories of love and light fool you - this is deeply powerful work that takes many revolutions of the heart to accomplish. These revolutions often come as a response to injustices that we face in this world - systemic racial and gendered violence, generational trauma, and the internal havoc that they cause. This full moon is bringing so much of this pain to light. With Venus in Scorpio and an upcoming Mercury retrograde in the same sign, we are invited to get to the heart of these ills and transform them into opportunities for radical change and rebirth. This is a moment for far-reaching healing, if we choose to make room for big risks and deep reflection. What has been coming up for you personally, emotionally, and spiritually during this full moon phase? Leave a comment to start a discussion! I can’t say that I wake up every day feeling comfortable in my body - it takes effort most days. But every day that I dedicate myself to it, I find that the effort is worth it. there is so much value in the shift in focus. the quiet time listening to the parts of me that are afraid to walk through this world as I am.
I think about the lies we are told as children, that we perpetuate in adulthood. That beauty is a virtue. That a person’s physical beauty tells you something about the goodness or worthiness of a person. That we all have the same definition of beauty, and thus it is more valuable to conform to those ideals than it is to embrace what is already yours. I think about all the ways that I have made myself small because I didn’t feel beautiful. The lies I absorbed to make sense of the world. And the substances I took to keep those lies down, to keep the truth from coming up, the truth that felt too painful and difficult to carry. Though I do not desire to go back to those days where I accepted insecurity blindly, I also have gratitude for them. Compassion for the version of me that went through it. Those days taught me so much about how to heal, about the kind of love that I was actually searching for, love that is already mine, not for anyone to give or take away from me. I was never lost, just looking. We are souls with a body. Our souls guide us to our lessons and our miracles. Our souls trust us in our learning, rejoice in our unfolding. You have to remember, the vibration of the physical is low and slow. We must simmer to learn our lessons. We must move to manifest. And move we do, through many lifetimes and journeys, crawling into that dark passageway, turning over rocks to see what lies underneath, smelling those roses, planting those seeds, dancing with the devil and angels alike. There is divinity in light and darkness. In aloneness and company, in ecstasy and anguish. There is a lot in this world we call Earth that is changing right now, in ways visible and invisible. The density that we have experienced up until now is becoming more and more uncomfortable. This is one of the reasons why magic and magical crafts like tarot have become so much more accepted in the mainstream. We are crying out from under the thumb of a system that has pathologized us, discounted us, stolen from us, lied to us. And we are reaching out for our souls. We are reclaiming our light. We are reclaiming our beauty as something that is ours, not to be conformed or changed or commodified. We are reclaiming our knowing, our history, and demanding that we experience the balance and peace that we know is our birthright. Have heart during these difficult times. If you are hurting, have compassion for yourself. If you are in judgement, put those defenses down. You don’t have to buy into your pain in order to listen to it. But you must listen to it to heal it. Treat it kindly, treat it gently, and offer it truth. You already hold this truth, deep within you, cradled lovingly by your soul. You are capable of so much - you have already gotten yourself this far. Remember you are not lost. Only looking. Two meditations in one week?? I can hardly believe it myself. Excited to share this lesson and meditation on the Empress, Venus, and the generative power of Love. Happy Friday (which is Venus' day by the way) and enjoy the rest of your weekend!
This is a meditation to soothe your soul and honor your ever present connection to Divine. When times feel dark, you can use this to connect to a sense of peace and purpose rooted in trust and love. We are never alone.
