Wednesday night I went live again with What's Your Sign Podcast for a new moon meditation! But if you missed it, don't fret. Today and tomorrow are perfect days for setting intentions and ritual for the mo(o)nth ahead; new moon intention setting is most effective when a sliver of the moon appears in the sky. Take this time to bring your dreams down to earth! I am including the text from yesterday's meditation below. Use this it now or anytime to help ground yourself and connect to your body and the earth. Check it out after the jump!
get comfortable. sit or lie down in a way that allows you to be available and to receive. whatever feels comfortable for you. close your eyes. and when you get situated, place one hand on your chest and the other on belly above your navel. and say your name in the following manner: “I am __" say it three times. we are grounding within ourselves before we settle into the meditation. we are protected and safe. we are calling in our wise and well guides and ancestors to protect us, hold us, to create a safe container for our journey.
when you feel ready, you can relax your hands put them back to your side. if you are sitting in a chair let them hang naturally on the sides of your chair. if you’re laying down let them rest at your side. we are going to be focusing our attention on our limbs and our sit bone and taking a journey with them. feel into where they are connecting with the material under you. feel into how you are supported and held by your chair or your mat, your couch or bed. release any tension you are holding in your limbs and your root. let them relax and get heavy. because we are going to use our limbs and our root/sit bone to take a little journey into the center of the earth.
so with your mind’s eye, imagine. imagine you are in a safe place. a place in nature, where you can smell sweetness in the air. wherever feels safe for and beautiful to you. you are lying or sitting in this place. and as you lie or sit, imagine your limbs and your sit bone growing into roots, lengthening slow and steady, from your finger tips, your toes, your sit bones, growing slowly and gently. like a baby redwood tree just finding its way….
down down down to the earth’s core, full of molten rock and knowing. an ancient knowing. with clarity of purpose. burning with passion and the very will to not just live but to create life. to be life. to be that which holds and supports all living as we know it...
there is fire here, yes. and this fire creates. here our roots are so sturdy, so wisened, so true. built and grown from integrity, from the depth of this journey, that when they touch this core, they do not disintegrate but they burn with wisdom, with love, with history. time collapses as we connect to this source of life...
pure energy and power connecting with us and moving back up through our roots, through these limbs that connect us to the earth, sending us sacred medicine...
like blood pumping through our veins
like water running through a river bed
up and up, back through our roots held tightly by the earth’s mantle...
up and up further through the thin layer of crust that we know as our foundations...
up and up even more past the bones in the dirt, up past where sleeping animals lie in their dens, up more past the worms and the ants and the insects...
back up to the surface where we find ourselves living, receiving, our living bodies pressed up against the ground from the weight of our roots, our tears watering the soil, once again bringing life to our mother earth...
and as this energy surges through the surface, through our roots and limbs, we rise with a newfound power. a newfound resilience. a newfound knowing. that teaches us and feeds us. it shows us where our breath come from. it shows us the root of our abundance. it shows us how to hold the sacred. and that the sacred has never been separate from us, but it is us. it is us as we are now. it is us in our lonely moments and in the triumphant, it is us as we are, perfect and holy and inextricably connected to all that is.
feel this power within you, and breathe this power in. breathe it through your root, your sacrum, your solar plexus, your loving and receptive heart, breathe it all the way through up through your chest, your throat, all the way up through your crown and the space above it. send this energy to your skin, your organs, cells, to your bones, your atoms, to your DNA. breathe it in, and breathe it back out into the world with your mouth open wide. our breath joining the wind and carrying this power out beyond the horizon, beyond borders, beyond what we can see with our two eyes.
you are here now. connected to the earth. connected to your body. connected to all that is. you are safe. you are humbled. you trust that the earth knows your name. and carries it with reverence, with respect, with love. the earth, spirit, your highest self, we are here to hold you, to catch you.
we love you.
we are with you.
